Cathy

So I am in an angry troll kind of mood.

Ethan had his second urodynamics test today, but I could not go because we had an emergency at work (it is 7:15pm as I write this…I am still at work…waiting for customer confirmation).  The Urodynamics test is by far the most invasive test ever conceived of [...]

Death by Basil (organic poison)

So I have been a under the weather of late.  Every morning I came into work and I barely had the energy to do my job.  On top of that I had a nasty cough that made my whole chest hurt.

This has been going on for weeks and I was starting to get really concerned.  [...]

Not like a horse?

Yesterday was Ethan’s clinical appointment day.  Thanks to my new best friend Maggie (our GPS); we made it to DC Children’s in record time (45 minutes).

After waiting for about a half hour they took us to our room.  The cool thing about Children’s is that they have a flat screen TV in every room.  [...]

Specialist Buffet

This week we have our Spina Bifida clinic appointment (they accept VACTERL patients too).  He sees 5 specialists all at once.  It is bound to be a multi-dread week.  First of all, the only appointment we could get was on Jenn’s birthday, ugh.  Two and three are more serious matters.

They took hip x-rays at his [...]

Me me me me me me me

I am sitting in the computer room overlooking the park, watching the kids come and go.  Today was a long day.  Ethan had an upper GI test (x-ray with dye in his stomach).  The test was at 8:30.  I expected to get out by 10:30, take Ethan to lunch, and then have some me time [...]

Grading my faithfulness…

So…Yesterday…is over for now.

Ethan was scheduled for an MRI at 10:30.  Since kids cannot sit still long enough for the test, they have to be given general anesthesia.  So they wanted us to show up at 9:00 to do all the paperwork and pre-op stuff.  We left the house a little after 7.  It [...]

Concentrated Dread

Tomorrow we are going to Ethan’s Spina Bifida clinic.  When Ethan was a baby, we had 5-6 specialists that he saw on a regular basis.  Each doctor wanted their own set of tests.  It was Jenn’s full time job just lugging him around from appointment to appointment.  Then there was the dread each time they [...]

On Fecal Residue and the Fate of Humanity

One of my all time pet peeves is guys who do not wash their hands after going to the toilet.  It ticks me off that after I have washed my hands, I have to touch a door handle that some cretin has left his crap remnants on.  WASH YOUR FRIGGIN’ HANDS!

On the other hand…a gold [...]

Squeaky

The trees in my neighborhood are doing the deed.  As a result, I am congestion boy.  I have no voice.  Well I have some voice, but it’s a Kathleen Turner kind of thing.
I am off to Sam’s Club to buy a pallet of Zyrtec.

Maintenance

The older I get, the more I realize that most of life revolves around maintenance.  Stuff just falls apart over time.  Having recently completed my 40th orbit of the sun, I now see the future like never before.  My illusions of immortality are shattered.
My parents visited this week.  They are but 22 years older than [...]
